1 Wounded in Shootout on Street
A man was shot in the cheek Wednesday during a shootout in Santa Paula, police officials said Thursday.
Information concerning the shooting was sketchy, said Police Chief Bob Gonzales, adding that people involved were not cooperating with authorities.
According to the chief, the shooting occurred about 1 p.m. in the 100 block of East Santa Paula Street.
Witnesses reported that two teenagers in the street and two men in a passing car exchanged gunfire.
The injured man, whom authorities would not identify, was in the car.
He was treated at Santa Paula Memorial Hospital and released.
The motive was unclear, but Gonzales said the parties knew each other and have an ongoing conflict.
Gang ties were also being investigated.
There were no arrests as of Thursday.
