Johnson Is Rooting for Angels in Series

King left wing Craig Johnson may have been rooting against the Angels in the American League championship series against Minnesota, but he’s pulling for them in the World Series against San Francisco.

That’s because Johnson grew up in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area, but his wife, Brittany, is from Orange County and the couple lived near Anaheim Stadium for a couple years before moving to Manhattan Beach last season.

“I have always been a Twins’ fan, but ever since I’ve lived in Orange County for those years, I started to follow the Angels,” Johnson said. “I go to a lot of games at Edison Field and I watch them on television almost every night. I know all of their players and I love the game of baseball.”

The biggest Angels’ fan in Johnson’s household is his oldest son, Eric, who attended Anaheim’s Game 3 victory over the Twins.

“He used to call them the Minnesota Angels,” Johnson said. “He’s always been an Angels’ fanatic. He has the Angels’ shirt, Angels’ hats and those Angels’ sticks that everyone has.”

After having the best power play in the NHL last season, the Kings continue to struggle while playing with a man advantage this season. Against the Canucks, the Kings were scoreless in six power-play opportunities against backup goaltender Peter Skudra. Although they moved the puck well and had several solid scoring chances, the Kings failed to score a power-play goal for the third consecutive game and have only three in 31 opportunities this season.
