Lubomir Sekeras scored 3:43 into overtime Tuesday night to lift the Minnesota Wild to a 3-2 victory over the Colorado Avalanche at St. Paul, Minn., giving the third-year franchise an NHL-best 16 points.

Skating in front of the net, Sekeras took a backhanded pass from Sergei Zholtok from the left side and wristed the puck past David Aebischer to send the sellout crowd into a frenzy.

The Wild, which skated to a 3-3 tie at Colorado on Sunday, is 7-1-2.

Colorado looked dominating early, outshooting the Wild, 14-1, in the first period. But the Wild outshot the Avalanche, 22-9, the rest of the way and again got strong goaltending from Manny Fernandez, who finished with 21 saves.
