A ‘Dysfunctional’ Kitchen?

Architect Scott Johnson’s kitchen design [for his home] is not only “unconventional” but also dysfunctional (“Down to Earth,” by Michael Webb, Style, Aug. 11). The storage area for dishes requires bending to get or put them away, and they do not appear to be near the dishwasher. Having dishes so near the floor where they can catch dust when sweeping doesn’t sound appetizing. They are where your knees could knock the cups on the floor.

The microwave also is inconveniently and awkwardly located. I would need to get on a ladder to clean the back inside wall. And why are the knives under the microwave and nowhere near a chopping board? Fortunately we can’t see the rest of the kitchen in the photograph.
