Motorcyclist Killed by Train Identified

A Ventura County coroner’s spokesman on Monday identified a man killed by an Amtrak train while riding his off-road motorcycle as Michael Charles Simmons, 35, of Ventura. Simmons received multiple blunt force injuries when he was struck while trying to cross railroad tracks about 5 p.m. Sunday, authorities said.
Witnesses said two men were riding their motorcycles along train tracks near Valentine Road and Victoria Avenue when one either stalled or got stuck.
