Nebraska running back Thunder Collins was charged again with assaulting his girlfriend, and the team suspended him for the next three games because of an unrelated NCAA investigation.

Collins, a former East Los Angeles College and Manual Arts High standout, was charged last year with pushing his live-in girlfriend several times, putting her in a headlock and grabbing her by the throat. The charges were dropped after he entered a domestic violence prevention program.

Lancaster County prosecutor Gary Lacey refiled the two misdemeanor assault charges last month because Collins failed to complete the program and pay $200 in fees.

West Virginia’s Mountaineer mascot can shoot his musket at Saturday’s game against Wisconsin at Madison after all.

Wisconsin officials originally denied the mascot permission to fire the weapon at the stadium. West Virginia officials say the musket fires powder, much like a starter’s pistol.
