Drug Agents Kill Suspected Cocaine Dealer
A suspected drug dealer was killed by undercover officers Thursday night in a Boyle Heights pizzeria parking lot after he drove his car into vehicles occupied by agents, authorities said.
The shooting occurred at about 8 p.m. in the 400 block of North Cummings Street near a Shakey’s Pizza, said Jose Martinez, a Drug Enforcement Administration spokesman.
Undercover agents from the DEA and the Los Angeles Police Department had just purchased half a kilo of cocaine from the man and were trying to arrest him when he gunned his car into a van and surveillance vehicle, Martinez said.
One officer fired, hitting the man, whose name was not released.
Two undercover officers were hospitalized as a precautionary measure. Their injuries were not considered life-threatening.
