2 Held in Thefts of Superhero Costumes
A former security guard at Warner Bros. and Sony was arrested Thursday on suspicion of stealing custom-made Batman and Spider-Man suits from the two movie studios, prosecutors said.
The former guard--Jeffrey Glenn Gustafson, 35, of Burbank--and Robert Hughes, 34, of Los Angeles are scheduled to be arraigned today at the Los Angeles Superior Court Airport Branch.
Gustafson worked as a security guard for Warner Bros. in Burbank, where a Batman suit valued at $150,000 was stolen, and Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City, where four custom-made Spider-Man suits valued at about $200,000 total were taken, prosecutors said.
Gustafson, being held on $350,000 bail, faces seven years and eight months in state prison if convicted. Hughes, held in lieu of $50,000 bail, could spend up to five years in prison if convicted.
