Substitute Teacher Held in Sexual Assault Cases

Share

A substitute teacher who has worked in several Orange County school districts was arrested Friday on suspicion of sexual assault against four teenage girls.

Todd Jerome Haluch, 35, was arrested in Newport Beach about 11:30 a.m. on a warrant alleging 13 counts of felony sexual assault. Bail was set at $250,000.

According to police, the incidents--which involved at least four girls ages 13 to 17 and took place over a period of years--came to light after one of the girls talked about the molestation to a therapist, who reported it to police.

In investigating that report, detectives discovered other victims, police said.

Haluch, of Huntington Beach, has worked as a substitute teacher in the Newport-Mesa, Huntington Beach, Garden Grove and Los Alamitos school districts, police said. He has not, however, been teaching this fall.
