Relay for Life--A news brief in some editions of the California section Wednesday incorrectly reported the locations of two Relay for Life events by the American Cancer Society. The Moorpark event will take place Saturday at Moorpark College, and the Simi Valley event will be Sept. 28 at Simi Valley High School.

The American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life is a 24-hour family oriented event in which participants walk or run relay style around high school tracks or take part in activities off the track. Teams can include co-workers, club members or family and friends who have raised donations prior to the event.

The public is invited to attend a luminaria ceremony after sundown at each relay to honor the community’s cancer survivors as well as those lost to the disease. Luminarias can be purchased for a donation at each event.

Funds will support programs such as “Reach to Recovery” and “I Can Cope” cancer research and community education programs.
