Bell-Jeff Invitational

When: Saturday

Where: Griffith Park, near Greek Theatre

What: The Division IV girls’ race will feature senior Alicia Veiss of McFarland and junior Katie Gose of Thousand Oaks La Reina, the fifth- and ninth-place finishers in the state championships last year. Los Angeles Loyola, The Times’ No. 6-ranked boys’ team, will be favored in the Division I race.

Dana Hills Invitational

When: Saturday

Where: Dana Hills High

What: Michael Haddan of Irvine Woodbridge will attempt to win his third consecutive invitational race of the season. Haddan, winner of the 800 meters in the state track and field championships in June, won the Division II junior races in the Laguna Hills Invitational on Sept. 14 and the Woodbridge Invitational on Saturday.

Durango Fall Classic

When: Today and Saturday

Where: Las Vegas Durango High

What: Long Beach Wilson, Manhattan Beach Mira Costa, Santa Ana Mater Dei and Torrance Bishop Montgomery, all ranked in The Times’ top 10, will participate in the 16-team tournament.

Boys’ Water Polo

South Coast Tournament

When: Today and Saturday

Where: Newport Harbor, Corona del Mar, Placentia El Dorado and Tustin highs

What: Among The Times’ ranked teams, only No. 3 North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake is not competing in the 32-team tournament. The top eight teams compete Saturday at Newport Harbor, where the championship game is scheduled for 4 p.m.
