Man Shot by Unknown Assailant Dies
A Santa Paula man shot in the head earlier this week by an unknown assailant died of his injuries Thursday afternoon.
Daniel Leon, 22, was pronounced dead at 3:35 p.m. at St. John’s Regional Medical Center, according to a county coroner’s office spokesman.
An autopsy is scheduled for this morning. Leon was standing with a friend outside her apartment in the 1000 block of Hull Place in Oxnard about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, when a gunman approached, asked Leon where he was from and then shot him in the forehead.
Police have not determined whether the shooting was gang-related.
