Two Villages Reportedly Razed in Ethnic Clashes
From Times Wire Reports
Two villages have reportedly been destroyed in the latest ethnic clashes in the oil-rich Niger Delta.
Austin Oboeregbeyi, a spokesman for the Itsekiri ethnic group, said the two villages near the southern oil hub of Warri were razed Thursday by rival Ijaw. He said there were deaths, but he could not give a figure.
Meanwhile, the national oil firm said one of its main pipelines, supplying two of its four refineries, had been vandalized in an explosion Saturday.
