A Carpinteria man was killed early Sunday when he was ejected from his truck on U.S. 101 in Mussel Shoals and struck by a passing car.
Antonio Vazquez was driving his 2003 Toyota pickup north about 4:30 a.m. when he lost control on a curve, swerved across the roadway and rolled several times, a California Highway Patrol dispatcher said.
Vazquez was not wearing a seat belt, authorities said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the car that struck him was questioned at the scene and released.
