Council Studies Job Preferences for Veterans
From Times wire reports
City officials may give preference to military veterans when filling government positions.
Supporters say the proposal would help veterans make a transition to the civilian work force. The council has asked city staff to research the proposal and return with a formal plan.
Anyone applying for a city job must take an exam that results in a numeric score. Under the plan, veterans would get extra points for military service.
