Times Staff and Wire Reports
A device that looked like a pipe bomb was found Tuesday at a Catholic church, but authorities say it’s unlikely it was connected to previous arson fires at the site.
Fullerton Police Sgt. Fred Casas said a church employee discovered the device near the front door of the offices of St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church in the 200 block of South Pine Drive. The device contained no explosives.
The incident is under investigation, Casas said, but it appears unrelated to two previous arson fires, one of which caused major damage to the church.
