Newsman throws darts at U.S.

It’s August, so the “CBS Evening News” will take viewers on a mini-vacation each night, with an “Everybody Has a Story” report from correspondent Steve Hartman.

For five years, Hartman has been throwing a dart at a U.S. map and then finding someone -- anyone -- to interview in the town where the dart lands, by choosing random names from the phone book.

The reports, some new and some repeats culled from the 100-plus stories Hartman has told over the years, will air every weeknight throughout the rest of the month, starting Monday.
