From Times Staff Reports

Gov. Gray Davis has announced a $50,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the slaying of an Oxnard man last year.

Steven Lemos, 25, was killed Oct. 10 as he tried to prevent an intruder from entering his home. Lemos’ fiancee opened their door at Del Ciervo Apartments on North H Street and was confronted by the killer. Lemos, a fast-food worker, was shot as he ran to try to close the door. He died from a 9-millimeter gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Oxnard police say they have no leads in the case. They petitioned the governor’s office after exhausting all possibilities.

The governor also announced a $100,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of Jorge Arroyo Garcia, who is wanted in the April 2002 slaying of Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy David March.
