Share

After finishing third behind Medaglia d’Oro and Volponi in a Grade 1, Evening Attire shows up in an allowance race today at Saratoga.

The winner of the Saratoga Breeders’ Cup Handicap and Jockey Club Gold Cup in 2002, the 5-year-old Black Tie Affair gelding has nine opponents in the $58,000 race at 1 1/8 miles.

Owned and bred by Mary and Joseph Grant and Tom Kelly and trained by Pat Kelly, Evening Attire was beaten by only a little more than two lengths in the Whitney Handicap on Aug. 2.

One for the road: Cyclorama drops into a softer spot for trainer James Bond in today’s sixth at Saratoga, a $50,000 allowance at 1 3/16 miles on the grass.

This will be her first appearance in an allowance since May 11 and her last four starts have come in the Sands Point, Hollywood Park’s American Oaks, the Garden City Breeders’ Cup Handicap and the Dance Smartly Handicap at Woodbine. Edgar Prado will ride. The 4-year-old Theatrical filly will leave from the inside post.
