He does it Frank’s way

He’s a Ring-a-Ding, Who Loves Ya Baby, I Did It My Way version of Ol’ Blue Eyes. At 16, Dakota Horvath has been doing his Kid Sinatra simulation for almost a decade.

Already a veteran of appearances on the Regis Philbin, Jerry Springer and Jenny Jones shows, as well as Las Vegas’ “Legends In Concert,” Horvath earned notice when he serenaded Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston at their Malibu wedding in 2000. Thirteen years old, decked out in a tux, the very image of a Mini-Me Sinatra wowed ‘em with renderings of “The Way You Look Tonight” and “I’ve Got You Under My Skin.”

Jazz performance -- The date of Dakota Horvath’s performance in the Thursday Night Jazz Series at Farmers Market was incorrect in Calendar Weekend. The 16-year-old “Kid Sinatra” performs next Thursday at 7 p.m.

Horvath’s career has been carefully managed by his father, Larry, a former bass player and stand-in for actor Robert Conrad.

In 1994 -- in a moment he describes as “the high point of my life” -- the Chicago-based Horvath met Sinatra. “We went down to Miami to hear him,” recalls Larry, “and went backstage to Sinatra’s dressing room. Dakota said, ‘Mr. Sinatra, I want to get your permission to sing like you and be like you.’ And Sinatra said, ‘You got it, kid!’ ”

Whether Horvath, who performs two 50-minute sets tonight at the Farmers Market, can rise above mere impressionism remains to be seen. Asked about career goals, the teenager mentions “making great recordings,” “acting in movies” and “live performances.”

You mean like Frank? “You got it.”
