CBS production, NBC footage
Viewers tuning in Sunday to Showtime’s presentation of “The Reagans,” the CBS-produced miniseries that was yanked off the network following a flood of protests, may have noticed that the film contained extensive news footage from NBC, but nothing from the archives of CBS.
Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, who developed and produced the miniseries, said they received a better financial deal from NBC than from CBS for the use of stock news footage featuring anchor John Chancellor.

“Reagans” footage -- A Quick Takes item in Tuesday’s Calendar about the TV movie “The Reagans” mistakenly said that financial considerations were a factor in the producers’ decision to use stock news footage from NBC rather than CBS. It was former CBS anchor Walter Cronkite’s prohibition on his footage being used in outside projects that dictated their decision.
They also said that former CBS anchor Walter Cronkite has a policy that prohibits the use of his footage for docudramas.
