Teen Dies of Unknown Causes in County Jail
From Times Staff and Wire Reports
A teenage inmate serving a 180-day sentence for burglary has died in the Del Norte County jail.
Joseph Alberts, 19, died of unknown causes Wednesday, said Sheriff Dean Wilson. Autopsy results were being withheld pending toxicology tests.
On Sunday, the jail staff reported Alberts was feeling ill, and he saw a doctor on Monday and Tuesday.
“From all reports, he was indicating he was feeling better, so it took us and the medical staff by surprise,” Wilson said.
