No More Dashing Through the Snow
“Expanded Snowmobile Use in Yellowstone Halted” (Dec. 17) was the best Christmas present I could have received. I have worked with the Greater Yellowstone Coalition for years to phase out snowmobiles in the confines of the park. When President Clinton supported a policy to phase out the machines, we celebrated the protection of the park and its inhabitants. When President Bush ignored the public’s demand for park protection and made the decision to allow snowmobiles back into the park in even larger numbers than before, many of us promised to work even harder to protect the park and its wildlife.
