Hollinger Says Auditor KPMG Resigned
Hollinger Inc., the company that Conrad Black uses to control his newspaper empire, said its auditor, KPMG, resigned after the company’s board refused to make management changes the firm requested.
Daniel Colson also resigned as a director and as vice chairman to devote attention to Hollinger’s main unit, newspaper publisher Hollinger International Inc., which said last month that it was exploring a sale.
Canadian-born Black, a British lord, quit as CEO of Hollinger International last month after the board found he and three partners pocketed $15.6 million in unauthorized payments.
Black and the others remain on the board of Hollinger Inc.
A spokesman for KPMG didn’t return a message.
