Inn Renovation Shows Fiscal Sense and Heart

Share

Re “Inn Uses Maid-to-Order Builders,” Dec. 22: In this time of corporate greed and “profit above all else,” it is refreshing to see a company that thinks of its employees before anything else. The rational thinking of the management of the Ojai Valley Inn & Spa should be used in all business classes across this great country as the perfect example of how a corporation should be run. As any good architect will tell you, the foundation of any structure starts at the bottom and works its way up. All too many CEOs, CFOs and board members seem to have forgotten the simple premise that a company is only as good as its employees.

By retraining the employees to make the improvements at the inn, manager Thad Hyland is not only making a good financial decision but also making a good human decision. The dedicated employees of the inn have created their own unique family, and the usual corporate mentality is nowhere to be found among them.

Although it may be a while before I take my next vacation, Ojai Valley Inn & Spa will be getting a call from me for a reservation so that I can talk to the people who not only are the ones serving me my meals and servicing my room but also the ones who hammered the nails and painted the walls.
