Pepperdine (4-6) vs. American (3-6) at Rainbow Classic, 9:30 p.m. -- After an eight-day break over the holiday, the Waves return to their rigorous nonconference schedule with the first of three games in this six-team tournament at Honolulu. Pepperdine will try to build some momentum after an 81-80 victory over Bradley in its last game. The up-tempo Waves are averaging 80.7 points with four players in double figures but also allow opponents to shoot 48.6% and average 80.2 points. American, led by former Virginia Coach Jeff Jones, has won three of its last six and pushed Notre Dame in its last outing before losing by four points.
