Sweep Yields Drugs, Cash, Guns, 4 Arrests
Ventura County authorities this week completed a narcotics investigation that resulted in the arrests of four Newbury Park residents and the seizure of 275 tablets of the hallucinogenic drug Ecstasy, various firearms and more than $6,000 in cash.
Michael Hommes, 32, was arrested on suspicion of possessing drugs for sale after police searched his home on the 500 block of Kitty Street and found about a quarter-ounce of cocaine, scales and several hundred dollars in cash.
Detectives then searched a home on the 500 block of Debbie Street, where they found 275 tablets of Ecstasy, several loaded handguns and two assault-type rifles and more than $6,000.
Paul Thompson, 34, April Duprey, 23, and Mark Swearington, 38, were arrested on suspicion of possessing drugs for sale and being under the influence of a controlled substance. The street value of the Ecstasy seized was estimated at $5,500.
