Two Los Angeles police officers shot and critically wounded a man Saturday night in South-Central after he pointed a gun at the officers and attempted to flee, police said.
Officers Benjamin Perez and Brett Clark shot the unidentified man in the chest as he pointed a pistol at them while running toward the intersection of 118th and Figueroa streets just after 8:30 p.m., said Officer Lucy Diaz, a police spokeswoman.
Saturday night’s incident was the weekend’s second officer-involved shooting. Police shot and killed a man they thought was reaching for a gun in downtown Los Angeles earlier on Saturday. No weapon was found.
