Pilot Badly Burned in Plane Crash at Airport

A pilot practicing takeoffs and landings was critically burned when his stunt biplane crashed at Long Beach Airport, authorities said Sunday.
The single-engine plane crashed about 10:50 a.m. Saturday, authorities said.
James Winegarden, 58, of Corona del Mar had second-and third-degree burns to 25% of his body, fire Capt. Scott Clegg said. The pilot was hospitalized in critical but stable condition Sunday.
