McDonald Is Sidelined by Headaches

Mighty Duck center Andy McDonald did not play Friday night against the Phoenix Coyotes because of headaches.

McDonald was sidelined for seven games, from Jan. 12-24, because of a mild concussion.

The Ducks are uncertain when he can return.

“He wasn’t feeling good on [Thursday] ... and we didn’t know what was wrong,” Coach Mike Babcock said after the Ducks’ workout Friday morning. “Obviously with Andy, we have concerns because he’s just gone through a head trauma. So with this area, we want to take the side of caution.”

McDonald returned to the lineup Jan. 29 against Ottawa and did not score in five games before sitting out Friday.

Because of McDonald’s absence, defensive forward Dan Bylsma returned to the lineup for the first time since injuring a knee nearly three weeks ago.

After suffering a minor setback at Calgary early in the week, forward Kevin Sawyer skated with his teammates Friday morning.

Sawyer has been sidelined since Dec. 19 when he suffered a neck strain and concussion in a fight against Brad Norton of the Kings.
