Thirteen-year-old Michelle Wie made the cut for the final round of the Pearl Open on Saturday, shooting a one-over-par 73 to finish two rounds at three-over 147.

Wie is 12 strokes behind leader Greg Meyer, a Japanese tour player who is at nine-under 135 after two rounds. Meyer is the assistant pro at the Pearl Country Club in Aiea, Hawaii, where the $80,000 tournament is being played.

Playing from the championship tees, Wie is the only female in the field of 192, and the youngest overall. The eighth-grader is tied for 44th with seven others and has a two-stroke lead over six-time champion David Ishii, the club’s director of golf.

Wie said her goal in the three-day event -- which draws half of its field from top Japanese pro and amateur players -- was to place in the top 20.

Gil Morgan might not be feeling great, but he birdied the final three holes to shoot a four-under 68 and take a one-stroke lead at the Royal Caribbean Classic at Key Biscayne, Fla.

He is at six-under 138 heading into today’s final round of the first full-field event on the Champions Tour, formerly known as the Senior PGA Tour. The winner will earn $217,000.

“My preparation has been pretty minimal coming into this week,” Morgan said. “I’ve had a lot of injuries that have hampered me from time to time. At this time of year, my muscles sometimes balk at me getting back into action.”

Rodger Davis is five under after shooting a 70 at Crandon Park Golf Course. First-round leader Bobby Wadkins is two shots back along with Hubert Green (68), Tom Purtzer (69) and Dave Barr (70).

Morgan has 21 wins on the Champions Tour, but he has battled injuries lately. He said he has sporadic arthritis, a torn rotator cuff in his right shoulder and occasional pain in his back and right knee.

“If you play as long as we do, you’re going to have aches and pains,” Morgan said. “You’re talking about 30, 35 years of pounding that ball.”
