Freeway Collision Leaves 1 Dead
One person was killed Tuesday evening in a two-vehicle accident on the Garden Grove Freeway at Lewis Street in Orange, authorities said.
One of the vehicles went over the side of the freeway and was pinned against a tree, CHP Officer David Ferrer said.
The name of the driver was not released because relatives had not been notified.
Firefighters had to use chain saws to cut through the brush to reach the car and then the Jaws of Life to cut the driver out.
The second vehicle pulled to the shoulder, where officers interviewed the driver. It was unclear if that person was injured, Ferrer said. The investigation is continuing, he said.
