A 72-year-old Irvine man died Saturday morning in a two-vehicle collision on California 33 in the Lockwood Valley area of northern Ventura County, authorities said.
The victim, whose name was not released pending notification of his family, lost control of his Dodge Viper on an icy curve near Lockwood Valley Road about 9 a.m., authorities said. The car then struck the mountainside, flipped and landed sideways on the highway.
A small pickup rounding the same curve then struck the car, killing the Irvine man instantly, authorities said. The truck driver was not injured and not cited. Authorities believe the driver of the car may have been speeding.
