Another Win Won’t Be Cheaper by Dozens

Share

Unbeaten in two starts as a 2-year-old, Dozens will make his first start since June 7 in tonight’s feature, a $12,250 allowance at 350 yards.

Owned and bred by Ed Allred and trained by Kelly Lewis, Dozens, a gelded son of Strawfly Special, broke his maiden by a length in his career debut April 28, then won a futurity trial less than six weeks later before going to the shelf. Dennis Means, who was aboard for both wins, has the mount again this evening.

The only three-time winner in the field is Love A Lark Jr. Owned by the F/F Racing Stables and trained by Chuck Treece, the Utah-bred has won two in a row at healthy prices. He upset $16,000 claimers at 11-1 on Dec. 13, then won an allowance race at 13-1 a month later. He will break from the outside in the field of five; Rodrigo Aceves will ride. Willie Good Time, Corona Captain and Chiricao complete the field.
