City Council Opposes a U.S. Strike on Iraq

In a 4-1 vote Tuesday, the City Council approved a resolution declaring San Luis Obispo officially opposed to a preemptive military strike on Iraq by the United States.
About 30 cities nationwide have approved similar resolutions -- including Santa Barbara, Santa Cruz and San Francisco -- and several dozen others are considering it, according to Karen Dolan, director of the Progressive Challenge Project at the Institute for Policy Studies in Washington, D.C.
