A 78-year-old Somis woman died Saturday after losing control of her car and crashing into a drainage ditch, authorities said.
Lillian Evans died at St. John’s Pleasant Valley Hospital in Camarillo about 12:15 p.m., less than an hour after crashing her car on Aggen Road near Los Angeles Avenue in rural Somis, authorities said.
Evans had been driving north when she drifted off the right side of the road and struck a concrete bridge abutment. The car was launched several feet in the air before landing in the ditch.
The cause remained under investigation Saturday evening but California Highway Patrol officials said Evans was not wearing a seat belt.
