The city has been awarded a $300,000 grant to build up neighborhoods around two new light-rail stops.
The grant, presented Wednesday by state Treasurer Phil Angelides, will be used to plan transit-oriented villages around the Florin and Meadowview light-rail stations.
In its grant application, the city said there is enough room around the stations for more than 5,000 housing units and some retail stores.
