There’s Plenty at Stake for Scott, Lewis

Share

Jockey Joy Scott and trainer Billy Lewis have a chance to sweep two Arabian stakes being offered tonight.

In the seventh, the $20,000 ARAC Dubai Hall of Fame Distaff at 7 1/2 furlongs, Scott will ride Rodania Arbi for Lewis, who is also scheduled to send out Basalisk Obka, Cs Crimson Tide and Sherife Usa in the race for older fillies and mares.

In the $20,000 ARAC Dubai Tent of Honor Classic for older males, the ninth on the card, Scott will handle Favoritt for Lewis, and the 4-year-old will be the public choice on the basis of his five-length win in the Oasis earlier this month. It was the fourth win in 10 starts for Favoritt, and the Colorado-bred has been worse than third only once.

The main event for quarter horses is the $15,000 Marina Del Rey Handicap at 350 yards. The likely favorite in the field of six 4-year-old mares is Cha Ching Chic. Owned and bred by Clarence and Sherri Barham, she has won two in a row for trainer Chuck Treece.

The picks: 1. Dashing In Style. 2. Wuzz Up Cnc. 3. Trip Dlite Fantastic. 4. Flying Tapestry. 5. Miss Curley Lite. 6. Xelodonia. 7. Rodania Arbi. 8. Chicks Tell. 9. Favoritt. 10. Good Hops.

Four! Use Dashing In Style and Raise A Legend in the first, Wuzz Up Cnc, Meters Honor and Swift Intruder in the second, single the Trip Dlite Fantastic-Ride On Time entry in the third and Miami Moon Dust, Flying Tapestry and Blushing Blake in the fourth.

Shots in the dark: Doonies Dancer could get brave in the sixth if able to clear her rivals early. Annual Edition ships in from Sunland for trainer Paul Jones in the eighth.
