Acting on a tip, police launched a two-week investigation into drug sales at a Ventura residence that led to the arrest of two men on suspicion of possessing marijuana for sale and weapons violations, authorities said.

Joshua Nuckols, 25, and Dennis Lutz, 43, who were booked into Ventura County Jail last week, remained jailed in lieu of $50,000 bail each.

Detectives from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department and Ventura Police Department arrested Nuckols as he was driving away from his residence in the 8000 block of Santa Margarita Street.

A search of his car netted almost $6,000 in cash, a switchblade, a sap, marijuana, rock cocaine, drug paraphernalia and unidentified pills, police said.

Detectives then searched the home and found about two pounds of marijuana, a small amount of rock cocaine and 11 firearms, including two assault rifles and other illegal weapons, officials said.

Lutz, who lives at the house, was also suspected of misappropriation of lost property after items marked as belonging to the Los Angeles County Fire Department were found.
