Balanced Spurs End Pacers’ Home Streak

Indiana got a late subtraction and San Antonio got a welcome addition before the teams met Wednesday night and it equaled the end of the Pacers’ 14-game home winning streak.

Indiana was minus forward Ron Artest, the team’s second-leading scorer, who began serving a four-game suspension. San Antonio had David Robinson return from a three-game absence.

Tony Parker had 28 points to lead six Spurs in double figures in a 106-97 victory at Indianapolis.

Stephen Jackson had 18 points and a crucial steal that held off Indiana, which had cut a 17-point deficit down to six with 1:22 left.

Jermaine O’Neal led the Pacers with a season-high 31 points. Tim Duncan got into foul trouble for San Antonio and had 12 points and nine rebounds in 24 minutes. After missing three games because of a sore lower back, Robinson also finished with 12 points and nine rebounds.

Dallas 104, Houston 81 -- Dirk Nowitzki scored 34 points and Michael Finley added 29 points and made seven of his team’s 15 three-pointers at Houston as the Mavericks outscored the Rockets, 37-16, in the third quarter to beat them for the third straight time this season.

Utah 95, Portland 71 -- The Trail Blazers were held to five field goals in the second half at Salt Lake City and Karl Malone had 20 points and 11 rebounds in the Jazz’s victory.

Atlanta 97, Philadelphia 83 -- Glenn Robinson had 33 points to help the Hawks hand the 76ers their fourth straight home loss. Allen Iverson had 37 points for the 76ers.

New Jersey 86, Washington 78 -- Kenyon Martin had 19 points and a career-high 21 rebounds and the Nets used an 11-0 third-quarter run after Jason Kidd suffered a strained groin to win at East Rutherford, N.J. The Wizards’ Michael Jordan was held to eight points.

Orlando 113, Cleveland 108 -- Tracy McGrady returned from a one-game absence for the birth of his daughter to score 31 points, grab 12 rebounds and make three free throws in the final 13.7 seconds as the Magic won at Orlando, Fla.

Miami 82, New York 80 -- Eddie Jones scored 22 points and Travis Best had the final five to lead the Heat at Miami.

New Orleans 104, Toronto 83 -- David Wesley had 25 points to lead the Hornets at New Orleans.
