Royal Caribbean’s Service Is Incomplete

Share

“Ships Trying to Get Everybody on Board” (June 29) neglected to mention that Royal Caribbean was unable to complete the ship’s renovations prior to its inaugural sailing on June 6.

Unfortunately, my girlfriend and I were on that cruise and were extremely disappointed. Most of the facilities you mentioned in your article were not yet available: There was no food court, no gourmet pizza, no sushi bar, no Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream, and the Jacuzzis were not finished nor operable during the trip. Food was available only during scheduled mealtimes -- the all-hours restaurant was still under construction.

Guest relations had a nearly constant line of people complaining about their stateroom accommodations: bad plumbing, broken air conditioning, etc.

What did Royal Caribbean offer the passengers to compensate? One hour of free mai tais and bloody marys in the lounges.

If cruise lines truly want to attract more passengers, they’re going to have to offer a far more positive experience than Royal Caribbean did with this cruise.
