County to Pay $200,000 for Deputies’ Actions
From Times Staff Reports
The county Board of Supervisors approved a payment of $200,000 on Tuesday to Cindy Foy, a Santa Clarita woman who sued the county after three sheriff’s deputies responding to her 911 call in 1999 fired 27 shots into her home. The deputies said they believed her husband was armed and that they were providing “cover fire.”
Foy’s husband, James Foy, was arrested on suspicion of spousal battery and assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer, but no charges were filed.
