Depleted Comets End Road Slide

Tina Thompson scored a season-high 30 points for the injury-depleted Houston Comets, spurring a 77-68 victory Tuesday night over the Minnesota Lynx before 5,543 at Minneapolis.

The victory ended a four-game road losing streak for the Comets (5-5), playing without Cynthia Cooper and Sheryl Swoopes.

Katie Smith scored 27 points for the Lynx (4-5), now 1-14 all-time against the Comets. Minnesota has lost four of its last five games.

Indiana 71, Charlotte 60 -- Tamika Catchings had 29 points and 10 rebounds, and Natalie Williams scored 16 points as the Fever (4-3) won before 7,855 at Indianapolis.

Catchings fell three points shy of her career high and had her third double-double of the season. She broke out of a scoring slump that saw her fail to score more than 13 points in each of the last three games.

The Fever have won eight straight home games, dating to last season.

Allison Feaster led Charlotte (5-4) with 21 points.

Seattle 61, Phoenix 60 -- Lauren Jackson made two free throws with 24 seconds left to lead the Storm before 8,950 at Phoenix.

Phoenix’s Tamicha Jackson missed a three-point shot at the buzzer.

Jackson had 23 points for the Storm (4-4). Anna DeForge led the Mercury (2-8) with a career-high 22 points.

New York 70, Sacramento 61 -- Vickie Johnson scored 18 points and Becky Hammon had 17 as the Liberty won before 10,711 at New York.

Yolanda Griffith had 21 points and 16 rebounds for the Monarchs (3-7), who committed 14 turnovers that led to 23 points for the Liberty (4-3).
