Bankruptcy Attorney Gets Prison Term

A Los Angeles bankruptcy attorney who has lectured and written about the subject was sentenced to 18 months in federal prison Friday for filing false information in two personal bankruptcy petitions.

Lloyd M. Segal, 55, of Marina del Rey also was ordered to pay $118,826 in restitution under terms of a plea agreement with federal prosecutors.

Segal is the author of “Stop Foreclosure Now in California” and “Everything You Wanted to Know about Chapter 11 Bankruptcy ... but Were Afraid to Ask.”

He also has been a frequent guest lecturer at UCLA, USC and various professional forums.
