Murray’s Son, 18, Could Be Selected in a Late Round
The Kings could soon add another Murray to their payroll.
Brady Murray, 18-year-old son of Coach Andy Murray, is projected as a late-round selection in the NHL entry draft, which starts with three rounds today and ends Sunday after six more. The 5-foot-9, 165-pound center is ranked by the Central Scouting Service as the 183rd-best North American prospect eligible for this year’s selection process.
“I think he’s only rated that low because of his size,” King General Manager Dave Taylor said. “He’s a good player.”
Having already signed to play at the University of North Dakota next season, Murray registered 42 goals and 59 assists in 59 games last season for the Salmon Arm Silverbacks, a Canadian junior team co-owned by his father.
“Obviously, I’d love to see him come to our team -- we’d get a good player and a good kid,” Andy Murray said. “But we have to see how it works out.”
