From Bloomberg News

DaimlerChrysler may have to recall 589,596 LHS, Concorde, Intrepid and 300M sedans after U.S. safety regulators began an investigation into reports of sticking accelerators.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration began the probe of the 1999 and 2000 model-year cars after receiving five complaints that the pedal stuck to the floor when drivers were accelerating in traffic. No accidents or injuries were listed in the agency’s investigation report.

The probe is the first step toward a possible recall.

Auburn Hills, Mich.-based DaimlerChrysler didn’t return a call for comment.

DaimlerChrysler shares rose 66 cents to $29.94 on the NYSE.
