From Staff and Wire Reports

A woman is dead and her three children seriously injured after she ordered them to unbuckle their seat belts before steering her car off a steep embankment, police said Friday.

The crash Thursday afternoon on Highway 41 between Fresno and Yosemite National Park appears to have been intentional, said Officer Rob Krider of the California Highway Patrol.

The woman, Corina Reeves, 32, of Clovis, died at the scene. Her 9-year-old daughter was thrown about 100 feet from the car and found lying in a fetal position by a man who stopped to help. An 11-year-old girl and 6-year-old boy were pulled from the wreckage by rescuers.
