Rangers Drop Sabres, Stay in Playoff Chase
The New York Rangers finally figured out the Buffalo Sabres.
Mike Dunham made 27 saves for his second consecutive shutout and Eric Lindros had two assists to lead the Rangers to a 3-0 victory over the Sabres on Wednesday night at New York.
Dunham has five shutouts this season and 16 in his career.
The Rangers, who were 0-2-1 against the last-place Sabres, moved to within four points of the New York Islanders for the eighth playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
The Rangers have seven games left, the Islanders have nine.
Minnesota 3, Florida 1 -- Pascal Dupuis had a goal and an assist at Sunrise, Fla., and the Wild extended the Panthers’ franchise-record home winless streak to 11.
Viktor Kozlov’s goal ended Florida’s home scoreless streak at 189 minutes 10 seconds.
Dallas 5, Atlanta 4 -- Mike Modano’s goal off a faceoff 2:24 into overtime lifted the Stars at Atlanta.
Dany Heatley’s goal with 35 seconds left in regulation forced overtime as the Thrashers overcame a three-goal third period by Dallas.
San Jose at Colorado, ppd. -- The game was postponed until today because of a blizzard at Denver.
