Man, 19, Convicted in Killing of Classmate
A 19-year-old man was convicted this week of involuntary manslaughter for killing a North Hollywood High School classmate he had once dated.
Jamarie Chatrie of North Hollywood, who was acquitted of second-degree murder, is scheduled to be sentenced April 17.
Shadene Thompson and two friends were talking with acquaintances outside an apartment building in North Hollywood where they had attended a party when Chatrie approached and told Thompson several times to go home, prosecutors said.
When she refused, he shot her.
