Santa Paula Man Charged in Fatal October Shooting
A 22-year-old man has been charged in the Oct. 27 shooting death of another man outside a Halloween party in Santa Paula, authorities said.
Hector Valdivia of Santa Paula has been jailed without bail in the killing of Rusty Marcello Zuniga, 25, of Port Hueneme, Santa Paula police said.
Zuniga was shot outside a home in the 300 block of Cameron Street and died a short time later at a local hospital.
The slaying appears to have been gang-related, authorities said.
Valdivia was arrested a few days later on an unrelated probation violation and has been in jail ever since.
Police officials declined to comment on evidence they had collected against Valdivia.
